Rose Classic to kick off next week, organizers in need of bleachers

The Nike Rose Classic spring edition kicks off in a little more than a week at JHS 113 in Brooklyn and it’s primed to be the biggest and best one yet. Organizers Cleon (Silkk) Hyde and Anton Marchand will have 48 different teams competing for the title – the most ever. Comment.

Borough Hall to go dark for ‘Hour’

When the lights go out next week in Borough Hall, it won’t be quitting time–it’ll be time to rally for global climate change. Beginning at 8:30 p.m. on March 28, Borough Hall will be among the individuals and organizations around the city  turning off non-essential lighting on some of the most recognizable structures that make up the Manhattan skyline.  The symbolic gesture is called Earth Hour 2009, and is being organized by the World Wildlife Fund. Pol looks to tweak mayoral control; many want reform

Three months before the State Legislature votes on whether to re-authorize so-called “mayoral control” of the New York City public school system, Assemblymember William Colton hosted a discussion last Friday morning to solicit input from parents and principals in District 21. Comment.
