Selfless Brooklynites helped make the holidays brighter for needy neighbors by conducting a Passover food drive in Bensonhurst. Members of the Bensonhurst Council of Jewish Organizations collected community donations of non-perishable kosher food items at the community facility, 8635 21st Avenue, and packaged them into boxes to be handed out to underprivileged area families in time for Passover. The observance celebrates the liberation of Israelites from persecution in ancient Egypt.
