Cuentos Para Niños (Stories for Children) continues through May with new bilingual programs at neighborhood libraries. This month, explore the theme “home” through stories in Spanish and English and meet an animal that carries his house wherever he goes. The museum kicks off its summer outreach series with BayFest, May 18 from 12-6 p.m. Look for the Brooklyn Children’s Museum tent at community festivals in the coming months.

Brooklyn Children’s Museum On-The-Go at Coney Island Library: Cuentos Para Niños, 1901 Mermaid Avenue near West 19th Street, May 3 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Children ages five and younger are invited to enjoy a story and song in Spanish and English. Special objects from the museum’s collection bring each story to life. Kids create their own craft to take home.

Brooklyn Children’s Museum On-The-Go at Arlington Library: Cuentos Para Niños, 203 Arlington Avenue at Warwick Street, May 17 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Children ages five and younger are invited to enjoy a story and song in Spanish and English. Special objects from the museum’s collection bring each story to life. Kids create their own craft to take home.

Brooklyn Children’s Museum On-The-Go at BayFest, Emmons Avenue and East 27th Street, May 18 from 12-6 p.m. On-The-Go travels to Sheepshead Bay for BayFest, a celebration of Brooklyn’s waterfront. Visit the museum’s station to meet live animals and make a craft to take home. This free event features live music, face painting, diving and sailing demonstrations, and culminates in a boat parade with free boat rides. All ages.

Brooklyn Children’s Museum On-The-Go at Bushwick Library: Cuentos Para Niños, 340 Bushwick Avenue at Seigel Street, May 24 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Children ages five and younger are invited to enjoy a story and song in Spanish and English. Special objects from the museum’s collection bring each story to life. Kids create their own craft to take home.

Brooklyn Children’s Museum On-The-Go at Sunset Park Library: Cuentos Para Niños, 5108 Fourth Avenue at 51st Street, May 31 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Children ages five and younger are invited to enjoy a story and song in Spanish and English. Special objects from the museum’s collection bring each story to life. Kids create their own craft to take home.

“On-The-Go, While We Grow”

Brooklyn Children’s Museum, 145 Brooklyn Avenue at St. Mark’s Avenue, is temporarily closed while the final stages of the building’s expansion are being completed. Museum programming continues with “On-The-Go” events held for children and families at local libraries, schools and neighboring cultural institutions.
