Lights out for power plant - Preservationists lament loss of 102-year-old building

A defunct power plant that once powered the Brooklyn Rapid Transit is being demolished, much to the displeasure of neighborhood preservationists concerned about maintaining the waterfront’s industrial heritage.

Con Edison, which bought the 102-year-old plant from the city in 1950 and operated it until 1999, started dismantling the building
