Today’s news:

What a good way to hoop it up

The senior members of the Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball team finished their career at St. Edmund Preparatory High School with a bang — by taking on members of the faculty in a hot game of hoops. The game, played before a packed gymnasium in the school, 2474 Ocean Avenue, marked the sixth consecutive year that this athletic department fundraiser closed out the school year and, as in years past, was filled with fun and excitement, as well as half-time contests. Senior basketball players who participated were Tara Kirk, Alex Barile, Jeremy Louison, Perkins Choute, John Romeo, John Douglas, Brian Powers and Cody Gauvard, and faculty members who participated were Danny Quinn, Marie McGoldrick, Rob Wiatre, Mike O’Brien, Brian Wagner, Kitty McEvoy and Dan Wiatre. The three-man referee crew for the event was comprised of faculty members Chris Wright and Kevin Raphael and senior Frank Fugetta.
