P.S. 399 toasts 27 years of excellence

Public School 399 celebrated 27 years of academic excellence and cultural development by hosting their 22nd International Rainbow Festival Celebration.

Under the leadership of Principal Marion J. Brown, Assistant Principal Terri B. Williams and performing arts instructor Deborah Kennedy Baker, the 475 members of the student body performed cultural dances to the sounds of African drummers and music from numerous nations such as Trinidad, Ghana, Mexico, India, Nigeria, Spain and Australia.

The school — 2707 Albemarle Road — used this occasion to present awards of appreciation to 42nd Assembly District Leader Mary Hobson and Keith Dawson, president of Dawson Promotions, whose annual holiday toy drive resulted in hundreds of Christmas gifts for underprivileged youth in central Brooklyn, including students at PS 399. This philanthropic duo also received citations from Congresswoman Yvette D. Clarke.

Dawson Promotions and District Leader Hobson will be undertaking a new drive this summer to collect back-to-school supplies for underprivileged students at PS 399, as well as the Woodruff Family Residence; Little Flower’s Children Services and Community Options.

If you are interested in making a donation, call Dawson Promotions at 917-412-4174 or Hobson at 718-285-5669. Arrangements will be made to pick up all donations free of charge.
