Kirk McMillian of Atlanta, on the rise as a new face in an ever-growing community of singer songwriters with his new record “American Dream World,” will be performing September 24 at Spike Hill in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn as part of a benefit for his charity Kirk4kids.
The night will include three bands, a silent auction, food and drinks. All proceeds go to Tuesday’s Children and donations will be accepted at the following levels: $10 kirk4kids groupie – cover charge for event; $25 kirk4kids roadie – CD and kirk4kids T-shirt; $50 kirk4kids tour manager – CD, kirk4kids T-shirt, two free drinks; $100 kirk4kids band members – CD, kirk4kids T-shirt, free drinks and food.
The evening’s itinerary is as follows: 7-8 p.m. Meet and greet, food and drinks, silent auction; 8 p.m., Little Creatures; 9 p.m., Kirk McMillan; and 10 p.m., Owen McCarthy (of The Everyothers).
According to McMillian, “The thing that attracted me to Tuesday’s Children was the nature of their cause. They are primarily focused on mentoring children who lost parent[s] on September 11. These children not only have to deal with the nature of how they lost their loved one but have to deal with the void of not having that parent to help with the simple things most of us take for granted.
“Seven years after that horrible mark on these children, I feel it is important to inform the community that this organization exists and how they can help. Please come out, have some fun, hear some new music and take the first step in making a difference in child’s life.”
