Bensonhurst loves a parade — especially chris’

Italian-Americans jumpstarted Columbus Day festivities by fêting parade honorees with a brunch in Bensonhurst.

The annual tribute formally introduced the 2008 grand marshals for the 27th Annual Brooklyn Columbus Parade in Bensonhurst with a welcome at Sirico’s Restaurant, 8015 13th Avenue.

The honorees were: Angela M. Battaglia, director of Bushwick Senior Citizens Council’s Housing Program; John Giuffre, president of Giuffre Motors; Carl E. Tavolacci, a World War II veteran and local lawyer, who was a charter member of the Kiwanis Club of Bensonhurst/Bay Ridge.

The parade is sponsored by the Italian American Organizations of Brooklyn.
