The Board of Trustees of the Mary McDowell Center for Learning has approved the creation of the Mary McDowell Center for Learning High School, with a ninth grade to begin in September 2010.

Debbie Zlotowitz, head of school, made the announcement as part of her State of the School Address, and also announced that Kirk Smothers, upper school director at The Calhoun School on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, has been chosen to serve as division head for the high school.

The Mary McDowell Center for Learning is located at 20 Bergen Street.
