Today’s news:

Prowling creep at P.S. 52

A friendly stranger who approaches Sheepshead Bay grade-schoolers at a Nostrand Avenue park has educators — and now parents — on edge.

On Friday, students at P.S. 52, 2675 East 29th Street, were given a note to take home to their parents warning them about the not-so-popular park-goer.

“It was reported to me today that female students from P.S. 52 were approached several times in the park on Nostrand Avenue,” Principal Ilene Altschul wrote.

The man, she explained, was described as a middle-aged Caucasian male with blonde hair and freckles. He is often seen in the park on Nostrand Avenue between Voorhies Avenue and Avenue Z wearing a baseball hat, tan vest, blue jeans and sneakers, she wrote, asking parents to make sure that their children know not to talk to strangers.

“Please remind your children to never talk to strangers,” she wrote. “They should walk to and from school with adults or in groups of children and report all incidents to parents and/or school staff.”

If a child is ever approached in an “inappropriate manner” they should immediately call 911, she concluded.

While the letter was sent out in response to the claims of the young girls who had been approached by this still unidentified male, school officials said that it was distributed as a precautionary measure.

Police from the 61st Precinct agree.

“It’s a cautionary note more than anything else,” a source from the Coney Island Avenue stationhouse said Monday. “There was a guy in the park who said ‘Hello’ to a couple of girls on a couple of occasions and it made them feel uncomfortable.”

“There hasn’t been any near abductions or anything like that,” he said.

The source said that there hadn’t been any reports filed with the precinct about this man by Monday.

It was unclear if more cops were being dispatched to the school to watch the kids as they go back and forth to school.
