They came from near and from far – as far away as Italy to as nearby as Union Avenue – to witness the 122nd annual lifting of the Giglio tower in Williamsburg.
Nearly 200 men lifted two thee−ton structures into the air as a crowd of thousands danced and clapped for five hours on the streets in front of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (275 North 8th St. at Havemayer Street).
