Today’s news:

Senior woes draw police

An NYPD Emergency Service Unit (ESU) crew was brought to a home on 57th Street last week following a series of tragedies that ended with an elderly woman barricading herself inside her home.

Officials said that they were first called to the home between 20th and 21st Avenues at 9 a.m. on August 18 when a resident from the address jumped out of a second-story window.

The man was rushed to an area hospital in unknown condition.

A short time later, cops were called back to the home when the vicitm’s elderly mother, in a fit of grief, locked herself in the home and refused to come out.

It took police upwards of three hours to coax the woman out of the home so she could be brought to an area hospital for observation, officials said.
