Today’s news:

Change they can’t believe in

Anti-war protesters in Brooklyn marked the eighth anniversary of the war in Afghanistan last week with a rain-swept vigil outside Brooklyn Borough Hall.

“There is no military solution in Afghanistan, Brooklyn for Peace Vice-president David Tykulsker said. “It is an outrage that the United States is spending more than $100 million per day on war, when we have urgent domestic needs like health care and green jobs. It is simply preposterous that tax money from Brooklyn is propping up a corrupt government in Kabul that just stole an election.”

Congress recently voted to approve the 2010 Defense Appropriation which includes $128.2 billion to fund the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq through September 2010.
