Upping the ante

A slap in the face ended in a hammer attack at an East 76th Street home last week, prosecutors said.

Police said that they were called to the home near Flatlands Avenue at 3 p.m. on December 7 on a report that a 48-year-old man and an 18-year-old girl had attacked each other.

Officials soon learned that the situation in the East 76th Street home was bound to boil over: the 18-year-old girl’s mother was not only dating the 48-year-old, but had a child %u2013 the teen’s sibling %u2013 with him.

The two were reportedly arguing when the 48-year-old slapped her in the face. He then punched her, leaving her with a cut on her forehead.

Seeking revenge, the 18-year-old grabbed a hammer and lunged, striking him in the head.

Police took both parties into custody, charging them with assault.
