Today’s news:

High-rise fire on Ocean Avenue

Firefighters scrambled to a seven story high-rise in Midwood last week after a fifth-floor apartment caught fire. Officials said that the all hands fire erupted inside the Ocean Avenue building, located near Avenue O, at about midnight on February 2. Firefighters scaled ladder trucks to get to the fire, which was put out in a half hour. At least one person was taken to Lutheran Medical Center for medical attention, officials said. No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was still under investigation as this paper went to press.
