Today’s news:

A BRITISHER’S VIEW - Islam’s thugs are whooping it up to the mosque

After 9/11 we needed justice but little was delivered, largely due to America’s political correctness.

The noble trait went unnoticed in challenging times by a treasonous peanut gallery of critics. While radical Islam perfected its venom, unchecked by previous administrations, the US labored to adhere to the laws of human governance — as always, above and beyond other nations.

Since ‘America’s worst day,’ the passage of time has concealed, more than healed, our wounds and now, with the closing of Guantanamo Bay and a halt on all terrorist court proceedings there, the Obama administration has demonstrated its willingness to delay — possibly, even deny — justice for slain Americans and their loved ones. Moreover, it has indicated a devotion to safeguard the civil liberties of suspected terrorists by creating a new maze of bureaucracy to deal with an old problem. That is not change.

Gitmo’s incarcerated were there for good reason. It is President Obama’s job now to decipher the charges against them, and deliver prompt justice.

The figures speak for themselves, and point to America’s compassion and cooperation. Since October 7, 2001, more than 700 detainees have been brought to Guantanamo Bay and more than 400 have been released without being charged, leaving approximately 250 prisoners, of whom more than a fifth were cleared for release but remained in custody because no other country wanted the headache of harboring them.

According to the Pentagon, more than 100 detainees have been released from the detention center since 2007 — notably more than in previous years — and since 2001, 61 former prisoners have resumed their terror activities, or are suspected of doing just that, after being released.

In a twisted turn of events, career terrorists, such as Saudi-born al-Qaeda brute Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, find that the charges against them have been dropped because President Obama doesn’t know what to do with them. They must be “Allahu-Akbar-ing” it all the way to the mosque.

Al-Nashiri was charged with masterminding the October 12, 2000 suicide bombing, which killed 17 US sailors aboard the USS Cole as the missile destroyer lay docked in a Yemen port. The heinous act was ignored by the Clinton administration, and served to embolden Islam’s henchmen and women to strike American, and other Free World targets, another day. If that prospect has President Obama worried, his actions aren’t showing it.

Pencil pushers are a terrorist’s dream come true. While they are busy crossing the ‘t’s’ and dotting the ‘i’s,’ our sworn enemies are plotting our doom with relative carte blanche. It is a decidedly poor message to send to terrorists and those accused, or suspected of, engaging in destructive acts that we will deal with them in the spirit of good faith, and even friendship.

Refreshing admissions aside — “I screwed up” in reference to his appointment of the umpteenth Cabinet-level tax-evader — the president needs to, dramatically, refocus his game plan. Terrorists would like nothing better than to take advantage of our fiscal crisis with a strained rookie at the helm, whose niceness they can’t wait to take advantage of.

Let it not be forgotten that militant and mainstream Muslims, alike, danced in the streets on 9/11. One way of addressing that vulgarity is to try fanatical Islam’s terrorists as quickly as possible.

Obama’s cabinet members, while smart, are a provincial bunch. They have lived the American Dream in, relatively, cushy times and possess little, or no, experience and foresight in dealing with religious nuts, who moonlight as heartless monsters.

The legacy of each administration begins on day one. Some, such as Barack Obama’s, arrive during catastrophic times, and because of that, are even more accountable for the changes they implement. Particularly, the ones that may end up being to the nation’s detriment, such as dismissing the lowly likes of Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri without a thought to the dire consequences.

Joyous thugs must be ‘allahu-akbar-ing” it to the mosque
