Today’s news:

What shall I be when I grow up?

A vet, a fast-food restaurateur and a doctor were among the guests who offered students the lowdown on employment opportunities during a career day at Public School 209 on East 7th Street, between Avenue Z and Kathleen Court.

The annual education forum drew guest speakers from a wide variety of professions, who spoke with youngsters about how to cement their ambitions into sound career choices, plus gave a lesson about their own lives in the workforce.

Anthony Gaudioso, owner of Certapro Painters in Red Hook, and Vinne Mazzone of Sheepshead Bay’s Chicken Masters spoke to youngsters about operating their own franchise, while Dr. Warren Seigel of Coney Island Hospital delivered a dose of information on a career in the medicine.

It was four-legged friend Gizmo, though, who stole the day. Much to the delight of students, the cuddly canine accompanied veterinary technician Kim Gaudioso who gave him a check-up on the spot.
