Today’s news:

Engagement party on Court St. gets ugly — and the father of the bride is in the middle of it!

Wedding bells were drowned out by the wail of police sirens at Marco Polo Ristorante on Court Street early on Saturday night as an engagement celebration ended in a frenzied free-for-all — and the father of the bride was nabbed!

Police were called to the famed Carroll Gardens eatery at the corner of Union Street at 12:30 am after several guests attending the party began fighting with each other.

As the squabble spilled out into the street, cops grabbed four men, ranging in age from 26 to 53, charging them with disorderly conduct.

All four were given criminal court summonses and sent home, said a source inside the 76th Precinct, adding that no one was throwing punches when officers arrived, but the group flat out refused to disperse.

Three of the men arrested were from Staten Island. The fourth was from Bensonhurst, they said. One was the man whose daughter is about to walk down the aisle.

“It looks like a couple of people had an argument inside and they wanted to continue their argument outside,” explained one police source.

Still, the scene certainly caught the eye of Saturday night revelers walking down Court Street.

“There was a bunch of fighting and yelling, people running in and out of the restaurant and tastelessly dressed women cat fighting or threatening to cat fight,” one witness told this paper. “They were all behaving like unflattering stereotypes about certain Italian-Americans. It was very interesting to watch and we spent at least five minutes observing from across the street.”

Marco Polo restaurant owner Joseph Chirico, who has had his own trouble with the law when he was once cited as a Gambino family associate during a major Mafia case, declined a full comment.

“Nothing happened,” he said before hanging up.
