Today’s news:

100 years and counting

A happy birthday, and a happy Fourth!

On July 4, Julia Fedick Falotico celebrates a milestone — her 100th year.

The New York native grew up at a time when there were horse-drawn carts in the streets and the subway was only five cents. She raised her family of five in Brooklyn with her husband, Frank, first on 58th Street and then moving to E. Fifth Street in Flatbush after giving birth to twins.

While she now lives in Florida, where she enjoys tending to her garden and pets, she has many friends and memories that have remained in Brooklyn.

On her birthday, here’s to a happy and healthy year!
