Today’s news:

Clones knock off the Jammers

Cyclones 4

Jammers 2

Monday, July 5 at Jamestown

The Cyclones curbed a four-game slide with a 4–2 victory on the road, where so many of their losses this season have come.

Rylan Sandoval obviously enjoyed his move to the leadoff spot, hitting a homer to start the game. But the Clones didn’t score more, despite a two-out triple by Jeff Flagg, his fourth of the young season.

Starter Angel Cuan got in trouble in the fourth, giving up two runs on a double, triple and a single, but that was all the scoring for the Jammers.

Sandoval added an RBI single in the fifth to tie the score, and then the Cyclones put it away in the ninth after William Cherry hit his second double of the game and Sandoval knocked him in. A second run came in on a wild pitch.

Those runs made a winner of Johan Figuereo, who pitched two solid innings in relief of Cuan, who also pitched well, scattering five hits over seven innings.

The Cyclones remain on the road now and will return home on Thursday, July 8 against the State College Spikes. Game time is 7 pm at MCU Park [1904 Surf Ave. at W. 19th Street in Coney Island, (718) 449-8497]. For info, visit
