Cops: Suspect arrested for attacking 86-year-old

Brooklyn Daily

Police arrested a man they say attacked an 86-year-old Kensington shop owner on Thursday — during a spat over double parking, the hospitalized victim claims.

Business owner Michael Malin said the suspect, who police did not name, double parked in front of his U Dream It Kitchen Design Center on McDonald Avenue near Ditmas Avenue at about 3:30 pm.

The senior and his employees asked the stranger to move on, prompting an heated argument. That’s when the suspect lunged at Malin, knocking him to the ground, said witnesses, who watched paramedics carrying Malin away on a stretcher.

Responding officers took the alleged assailant — who had Malin’s blood on his shirt — away a short time later. Charges were pending by late Friday.

Malin said he suffered a deep head wound in the fracas and was sent home after receiving four staples — claiming that he had very little memory about what happened.

“All I know is that I wound up in the emergency room,” Malin said. “He put a hole in my head.”
