Eight lines will be rerouted this weekend

Ask any Brooklynite to describe what subway rides were like back in the day, and you better have a good seat. Old-timers who remember when the Duke Ellington’s “Take the A Train” was a top-40 hit will bend your ear about the days of regal, carpeted subway cars, five-cent fares, and trains that ran so smooth it seemed that they were flying. Well folks, clearly those days are over. So, what will you tell your grandchildren? If this weekend’s any indication, the MTA has a serious PR problem looming in the future.

All changes are from Saturday, Aug. 25 at 12:01 am to Monday, Aug. 27 at 5 am unless otherwise noted:

3: No trains between Franklin Avenue and New Lots Avenue from 6 am on Saturday until 10 pm on Sunday. Take the shuttle.

4: No trains between Utica Avenue and New Lots Avenue from 4 am on Saturday to 10 pm on Sunday.

A: Manhattan-bound trains run along the F line from Jay Street-Metrotech to West Fourth Street in Manhattan.

C: Manhattan-bound trains run along the F line from Jay Street-Metrotech to West Forth Street from 6:30 am to 11 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

D: No trains between Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center and 34th Street. Take the F, N, or R.

J: No trains between Crescent Street and Jamaica Center in Queens from 6 am on Saturday to 10 pm on Sunday. Take the free shuttle.

M: Service is suspended from 4 am on Saturday to 10 pm on Sunday. Take the free shuttle between Myrtle Avenue and Metropolitan Avenue.

Q: Manhattan-bound trains are rerouted along the R from DeKalb Avenue to Canal Street.
